Jackson Walker attorney Emilio B. Nicolas was elected to serve as a Trustee for the Copyright Society of the USA.
Emilio was elected during the Joint Meeting of the Board of Trustees and Members, which was held at the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Copyright Society of the USA in Newport, Rhode Island.
Founded in 1953, the Copyright Society of the USA is the preeminent society dedicated to the study of copyright law in the United States. Members of the Board of Trustees include prominent leaders and practitioners in the field of copyright law, which makes Emilio’s election a significant honor.
Emilio is a content attorney whose practice includes entertainment, media, and intellectual property litigation and transactional work, with a particular emphasis on copyright, trademark, right of publicity, privacy, and defamation. His experience includes federal and state litigation; copyright and trademark prosecution matters; entertainment, media, IP and privacy agreements and policies; and rights clearances. Emilio received his B.S. in Business Administration (Finance and Marketing concentrations) from Trinity University; his M.S. in Media Management from Syracuse University; and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law. He is consistently named a “Rising Star” by Thomson Reuters; is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation; and serves as Co-Chair of the ABA IP Property Litigation Regional CLE Subcommittee. He is also the Chair-elect of the Texas Chapter of the Copyright Society of the USA, with his term beginning July 1, 2015.
