Jackson Walker client Adam Carolla’s Lotzi Digital, Inc. was recently featured in a USA Today article about the company’s high-profile legal battle over podcasting.

The article, titled “Podcasting in peril? Trial showdown in September” discusses a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas brought by Personal Audio, LLC against Lotzi Digital. Personal Audio founder James Logan claims that he holds a patent on podcasting that is being infringed by Mr. Carolla, as well as several other parties.

Lotzi Digital, however, asserts that no infringement, literal or otherwise, has taken place. Mr. Carolla has started a fundraising campaign via FundAnything.com to raise money to defend against the claims. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, in partnership with Harvard’s Cyberlaw Clinic, has also launched a campaign to investigate a challenge to the Personal Audio patent. The case has garnered significant media coverage. In addition to USA Today, articles about the case have appeared in publications including NPR, techdirt, The Economist, and Inside Counsel.
