Jackson Walker is pleased to announce that The National Black Lawyers has selected Dawn S. Holiday and Courtney J. White for inclusion in its list of the âTop 100 Black Lawyers in Texas.â
An invitation-only network of the top black attorneys from each state, The National Black Lawyers (NBL) supplies members with professional resources for increasing their knowledge and building referral connections. Members are plaintiff and defense lawyers from across the nation who practice in over 30 areas of law.
To be recognized among its list of the 100 âbest black attorneys in each state who promote diversity and equality in the legal system,â nominees must have an outstanding reputation among peers, the judiciary, and the public; received notable achievements, settlements, and verdicts; nominations from other leading lawyers and current NBL members; leadership and membership in national and state specialty lawyer organizations; and rankings and ratings by leading national evaluation programs.
An experienced litigator and trial attorney, Dawn handles a variety of multi-party lawsuits, including employment litigation, commercial litigation, personal injury, professional liability, workersâ compensation, and general liability defense. Previously, Dawn was recognized among Thomson Reutersâ âSuper Lawyers â Rising Starsâ (2012-2018), âWhoâs Who in Black Houstonâ (2017), and the National Bar Associationâs âTop 40 Under 40â (2016). This is the second consecutive year that Dawn has been recognized among the NBL’s “Top 100” list.
Prior to practicing law, Dawn served as an Articles Editor for South Texas Law Review while working toward her J.D. at South Texas College of Law. She continues to serve the law school as a Charter Member of the Black Alumni Chapter.
Outside of her practice, Dawn helps advance equality in the legal profession through her involvement with the Houston Bar Associationâs Teach Texas Program, Constitutional Day Reading Program, and Diversity and Inclusion Committeeâformerly known as the Minority Opportunities in the Legal Profession Committee (MOILP). She is also a womenâs ministry leader, author, and teacher at Crossover Bible Fellowship and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Northland Christian School in Houston.
In her real estate practice, Courtney works directly with Jackson Walkerâs real estate portfolio due diligence team on large portfolio acquisitions and dispositions. She also has experience managing teams and providing first-level quality control review in connection with large-scale due diligence and e-Discovery projects.
Outside her practice, she volunteers with the National Advocacy Coordinating Committee of the American Heart Association and runs Courthouse Couture, a blog centered around faith, fashion, lawyer life, lifestyle, shopping, and travel.
Courtney received her B.S. from Texas A&M University and her J.D. from the Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law. She is also a Certified Texas Mediator.
