Fort Worth attorney Albon O. Head Jr. has received the Charles O. Galvin Award for Service from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law. The Galvin Award is given to an SMU law alumnus who has demonstrated extraordinary service to the law school. Head received his law degree from SMU in 1971.

Head accepted his award at a Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner in Dallas Saturday, March 1, at the Park Cities Hilton.

Head is the partner-in-charge of the Fort Worth law office of Jackson Walker and serves on the firm’s management committee. He practices general commercial and complex litigation and is board certified in civil trial law.

Head has served in many volunteer capacities for the law school and the university. A former SMU football player, Head is the past president of the SMU Alumni Association. He is a director of the SMU Athletic Forum, which gives the Doak Walker National Running Back Award, and he is a member of the SMU Athletic Council. Among his services to the law school, Head is a former member of the school’s board of visitors and past chairman of its Distinguished Alumni Award Committee. His firm Jackson Walker supports one of the school’s moot court competitions. Head also has been active in numerous other fund-raising activities for the law school.

His community service includes serving as director of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of YMCA Camp Carter, former director of the Fort Worth Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and past president of the Fort Worth Opera.
