Jackson Walker congratulates Houston partner Marisela Peña Gonzalez on her upcoming recognition as a Top Emerging Leader at the National Women’s Conference held on March 29-31, 2022. Honorees of the Emerging Leader Award are recognized for their peer leadership, executive leadership potential, and for demonstrating “values of courage, inclusiveness, innovation, faithfulness, persistence, and humility.”
Presented by the National Women’s Council, an affiliate of the National Diversity Council, the National Women’s Conference features educational sessions and networking opportunities designed to help women explore their role as a game changer within their organization.
Marisela focuses her practice on joint venture, merger, acquisition and dispositions transactions, entity formation, as well as general corporate matters. Having worked in house, she understands the need for practical risk mitigation advice that allows the client to achieve its business objectives.
Marisela is a member of Jackson Walker’s Hiring Committee in Houston, which is responsible for recruiting law students and future attorneys of the Firm. She also serves on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and is a co-leader of the Committee’s pillar focused on the professional development, retention, and advancement of our diverse attorneys. Outside of Jackson Walker, Marisela has served as a mentor for the University of Houston Law Center’s Pre-Law Pipeline Program, for the Practice Pro mentorship program, and for the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston’s mentorship program. Previously, she chaired the Advisory Board of Arte Público Press.
Jackson Walker selected Marisela in 2019 to participate in the Fellows Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, a yearlong professional development program for high-potential attorneys from diverse backgrounds to gain leadership experience and build relationships.
In 2014, Marisela was named among the Top 25 Business Women in Houston by the National Women’s Council. She has been recognized as a Texas Rising Star by Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers – Rising Stars since 2016.
