Biography
Joe Magliolo is a trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor with extensive experience handling significant cases and investigations involving cybercrime, False Claims Act-based allegations, export-control and economic-sanction laws, and national security issues. In his practice, Joe advises businesses and individuals under criminal or civil investigation by the government and conducts internal investigations for public and private companies seeking an independent view into their most complex problems. He also represents clients in civil disputes at the pre-trial, trial, and appellate levels in state and federal court.
Prior to Jackson Walker, Joe served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas and was the district’s Lead Computer Hacking and IP (CHIP) Attorney. In that role, he investigated and prosecuted numerous high-profile cases involving violations of U.S. economic sanctions laws, cybercrime and dark-web-based crime, terrorism, wire and mail fraud, and money-laundering offenses. Joe is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried many cases to verdict or successful resolution in state and federal courts. He also held TS/SCI clearances, developed and managed the Northern District’s crisis-response plans, and was named among a select number of federal prosecutors nationwide to serve on the Department of Justice’s Disruptive Technology Strike Force. As a federal prosecutor, Joe also authored over 70 appellate briefs and presented 13 oral arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on a variety of complex criminal matters.
Joe previously served as a clerk for the Honorable Leslie H. Southwick of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Court and practiced litigation at two prominent law firms. His work included defending major public companies during significant antitrust and FCPA investigations and representing clients in federal and state courts on matters related to the Civil Rights Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Before practicing law, Joe interned for the Office of Former President George H.W. Bush and was an on-air sports radio co-host and contributor for Sportsradio 1310 The Ticket and 105.3 The Fan.
