Jackson Walker is proud to announce the firm’s participation in the Mansfield Rule Certification process, which runs from July 2024 to July 2025. As one of over 365 firms, the largest number of firms to date, we are committed to ensuring all qualified talent has an equal opportunity for advancement into leadership.

“We are thrilled to join the Mansfield Rule Certification process as part of our unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace,” said Suzan Kedron, who chairs the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “By participating in this initiative, we are taking a significant step towards ensuring that all qualified talent has an equal opportunity to thrive and advance within our firm. We believe that diversity strengthens our firm and enriches the legal profession as a whole.”

“By participating in this initiative, we are taking a significant step towards ensuring that all qualified talent has an equal opportunity to thrive and advance within our firm.”

The Mansfield Rule is a proven framework for improving diversity within law firm leadership. By tracking and measuring progress in areas like management committee appointments, partner promotions, and client pitch diversity, firms can create a more inclusive environment.

To achieve certification this year, participating firms will:

  • Consider at least 30% historically underrepresented attorneys when appointing to leadership roles.
  • Develop and internally publish job descriptions for leadership positions.
  • Participate in monthly knowledge-sharing forums.
  • Collaborate closely with Diversity Lab on routine check-in, data collection, and reporting milestones.
  • Submit a Certification application at the conclusion of the process.

Jackson Walker’s Mansfield Rule Certification began in 2021, marking a significant milestone in the firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts. The establishment of eight Lawyer Resource Groups and dedicated leadership teams focused on cultural awareness, recruiting, professional development, and business development has strengthened our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels like they belong.
