Jackson Walker is pleased to welcome Ed Marvin as a partner in the firm’s Trial & Appellate Litigation practice. Ed brings an experienced background in intellectual property litigation and prosecution, having represented clients for almost two decades in patent, trademark, copyright, and other civil matters at both the federal and state levels. His practice also includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications for a wide range of technologies, from alternative energy devices and pharmaceutical compositions to piping systems and musical instruments.

Beyond litigation and patent prosecution, Ed advises clients on intellectual property licensing, transactional matters, and securing trademark and copyright protections. He also handles employment-related legal issues such as non-compete agreements and trade secret protection.

“We are thrilled to have Ed join Jackson Walker,” said Nathaniel St. Clair, II, head of Jackson Walker’s Intellectual Property practice group. “Ed’s technical knowledge, combined with his litigation experience, strengthens our ability to serve our clients across a range of industries. We look forward to the contributions he will make to our growing practice.”

Before pursuing a legal career, Ed worked as an environmental engineer, focusing on groundwater remediation systems. Ed now teaches a graduate-level course on intellectual property principles in the Texas A&M University School of Law’s Master of Legal Studies Program. The program equips non-lawyers with the knowledge to make informed business decisions.

“I’m excited to join Jackson Walker and collaborate with such a talented team,” said Ed on his decision to join. “The firm’s wide range of practice areas offers a great opportunity to fully service clients’ legal needs. Its commitment to innovation and client service also aligns with my approach to intellectual property law. I look forward to leveraging my technical and legal experience to help clients navigate complex intellectual property challenges.”

Ed obtained his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University and his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
