The Pro Bono Champion Awards recognize lawyers who have provided significant pro bono legal services in the healthcare/health law field, helping to increase the availability and quality of healthcare or otherwise provide needed access to the legal system for those in need. A description of Mary Emma’s pro bono work will be profiled in the June online edition of AHLA Connections.
Mary Emma has practiced law at Jackson Walker for more than 30 years, providing practical advice and strategic thinking to clients in a wide range of legal matters. Her current practice consists of counseling clients on healthcare and managed care contracting; representing various organizations as outside general counsel and coordinator of legal work; and consulting in litigation matters involving emerging healthcare issues. She is also passionate about giving back to the community through civic and charitable involvement and pro bono work, contributing more than 200 hours per year to pro bono activities. She has provide legal assistance to Catholic Charities of Dallas and the Diocese of Dallas for many years and serves as counsel to the Board of St. Joseph’s Residence. Mary Emma received her B.A., summa cum laude, from Spring Hill College and her J.D. from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
