Jackson Walker is proud to provide pro bono legal services to Thaakat Foundation (“Thaakat”), a nonprofit organization based in Chicago dedicated to building and maintaining maternity clinics and schools in underserved areas of Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Pakistan. Supported by student chapters at universities across the nation, Thaakat is making a significant impact on global health and education.

In October, Thaakat hosted its annual charity basketball tournament, successfully raising more than $100,000 to further its mission. Jackson Walker attorneys Shayan Gaziani and Jessica Schwartz provided critical legal advice to ensure the event’s success.  Our team assisted Thaakat with best legal practices for organizing the event and mitigating risk, including drafting comprehensive liability, medical, and media release waivers.  This guidance was essential in protecting Thaakat and ensuring a smooth and successful fundraising event.
