Jackson Walker partner Retta A. Miller received the Dallas Women’s Foundation’s 2014 Maura Women Helping Women Award. The award recipients were announced in the February 2014 edition of D Magazine.
The award is presented annually to Dallas-Fort Worth women for their achievements in leadership and improving the lives of women and girls in the area.
“Each of the 2014 Maura Award recipients exemplifies women’s leadership and an absolute dedication to creating and advancing opportunities for women and girls,” Roslyn Dawson Thompson, the foundation’s president and CEO, said in a press release.
Ms. Miller has been recognized as a Top Business Defender in Dallas by the Dallas Business Journal in 2008. She is a past recipient of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Athena Award, which recognizes women who excel in their profession, serve their community, and assist other women in realizing their full leadership potential. She was also named one of the “Best Women Lawyers in Dallas 2010” by D Magazine. In addition, Ms. Miller has been named a “Super Lawyer” (2010-2012) by Thomson Reuters and was listed in the 2012-2013 editions of The Best Lawyers in America under Commercial Litigation.
Ms. Miller is head of Jackson Walker’s trial section and serves on the firm’s management committee. She has more than 27 years of experience representing clients in civil litigation, arbitration, and appeals. She has extensive trial experience, having served as lead counsel in over 30 trials and arbitrations that were tried to conclusion. She focuses her practice on the representation of retail brokerage firms and other financial institutions. Ms. Miller received her B.S. and M.A. degrees from Oklahoma State University and her J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law.
