Amanda Van Deusen to Serve Tenth Year as Chairman of the HAPL Technical Workshop & Webinar

Amanda L. Van Deusen is set to serve her tenth consecutive year as Chairman of the nationwide 56th Annual Houston Association of Professional Landmen (HAPL) Technical Workshop & Webinar. The Technical Workshop will take place at the ExxonMobil Campus in The Woodlands, Texas, on Thursday, April 3rd, and will be broadcast live nationwide via Zoom Webinar.

The HAPL Technical Workshop & Webinar is an all-day educational seminar that will be broadcast nationwide to over 400 attendees. The event will attract participants from more than 50 energy companies, land associations, and law firms across more than 12 states and 75 cities.

As Chairman, Amanda manages a committee of 10 professionals who are experts in the landman industry. The committee is tasked with developing engaging and relevant topics that address current industry trends and are applicable to different regions across the United States.

Additionally, Jackson Walker partner Brandon Durrett is scheduled to speak on the topic “Due Diligence Issues with Different PSA Assets & Closing Models.”

The workshop will offer seven (7) continuing legal education (CLE) credits. These credits are recognized by the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and the State Bars of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Colorado. The Technical Workshop promises to be an enriching experience for all attendees, offering a blend of expert insights, professional development, and networking opportunities.

Meet Amanda

Based in Houston, Amanda L. Van Deusen is a Certified Professional Landman and title analyst with experience in acquisition due diligence and energy finance projects with upstream and midstream asset evaluation, as well as real estate transactions. Her practice focuses on title examination and ownership, reserve evaluation in energy finance transactions, contract and lien analysis, and document preparation for clients across the energy, real estate, trusts and estates, and renewable energy industries.

Outside of her practice, Amanda is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), the Women’s Energy Network (WEN), and Real Life Texas Ministries in Tomball, TX. Since 2016, she has also served on the HAPL’s Board of Directors. She has held positions as Immediate Past President and Government Affairs Chairman (2023-2024), President (2022-2023), 1st Vice President (2021-2022), 2nd Vice President (2020-2021), Chairman of HAPL Monthly Luncheons (2020-2021), 3rd Vice President (2019-2020), Chairman of the Newsletter & Website Oversight Committee (2019-2020), and Treasurer (2018-2019). Amanda previously served as a Director on the HAPL Board of Directors (2016-2018).

Amanda was awarded the AAPL Special Award (Education) in June 2018 and again in June 2021 for her continued service as Committee Chairman of the HAPL Technical Workshop. Amanda was also presented with the HAPL “Above and Beyond” Award in 2015, given to the HAPL member who, over the past year, has contributed above and beyond what was expected in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
