Biography
Daniel Lewis is an attorney in the Corporate & Securities practice of Jackson Walker’s Dallas office. His transactional practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, bank finance, public finance, and private credit. Daniel has experience across a wide range of industries including energy, medical, tech, food services, manufacturing, insurance, and oil and gas (particularly upstream and midstream). Daniel represents banks, private lenders, borrowers, and sponsors. In the public finance space, Daniel serves as underwriter’s counsel and bond counsel.
In the M&A space, Daniel has extensive experience representing both buyers and sellers across a broad range of industries. Daniel’s deals typically range in size from $5 million to $250 million and run the gamut between private, strategic, and joint venture transactions.
Daniel’s finance work includes bank finance for both lenders and borrowers, private credit for sponsors in LBOs and general refinancing transactions, and venture capital finance as investor counsel. Daniel has advised regional and national banks, private equity companies and oil and gas companies on oil and gas-secured credit facilities, telecommunications, media and technology (“TMT”) credit facilities, industrial facilities, and medical credit facilities. As part of this practice, Daniel has experience drafting and negotiating credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, subordination agreements, guaranties, mortgages, and other security documents, and in advising clients regarding perfection, hedging and usury matters. Daniel has also helped lenders navigate workouts, distressed loans and DIP financings.
Prior to Jackson Walker, Daniel practiced at a prominent international law firm. Before beginning private practice, he served as a judicial law clerk for Judge Don Willett of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
