Biography
Maggie Burreson is an attorney in the litigation practice of Jackson Walker’s Dallas office, with a focus on media and entertainment. She represents journalists, news outlets, and other media organizations in a wide array of matters. She regularly defends media clients against defamation claims. She has helped author numerous amicus briefs in media and First Amendment matters in the Fifth Circuit and has obtained dismissal of claims against her media clients under Texas’s anti-SLAPP law.
Maggie also represents businesses in a variety of nonmedia matters, with a particular emphasis on class actions and appeals. By the time she was a fourth year associate, she had taken over 30 depositions and argued, and won, a summary judgment motion that resulted in a total dismissal of claims worth tens of millions of dollars against her client.
When she’s not vigorously advocating on behalf of her clients, Maggie loves researching and trying new restaurants in the Dallas area, spending time with her husband and her dog, and planning her next trip to a new country.
