Biography
While in law school, Tayte served as a summer associate at Jackson Walker assisting with legal matters in labor and employment law, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy.
While at the South Texas College of Law Houston, where he earned his J.D., magna cum laude, Tayte served on the South Texas Law Review as an assistant development editor and as Vice President of the Black Law Students Association. Additionally, he received a certificate in Texas Civil Advocacy and concentrated his legal studies on Texas Civil and Appellate Procedure. Tayte was extensively involved in the school’s advocacy program and as a result of his moot court success, he was chosen as a recipient of the “State Bar of Texas: Award for Excellence in Appellate Advocacy,” which is awarded annually to one graduating student from each Texas law school for demonstrated excellence in written and oral advocacy. Tayte was inducted to the Order of the Barristers, the Order of the Lytae, and graduated in the top 10% of his law school class.
Tayte will serve as a term law clerk for the Honorable Dana M. Douglas (U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit) and the Honorable Andrew M. Edison (U.S. District Court Southern District of Texas).
